Thor X Reader X Loki - Salt Skin Part 5

Reader’s POV

You were staring at the ceiling of your room when you heard a knock on your door. Raising an eyebrow you walk over to the door and opening stare wide eyed at Thor. All of the sudden he leans forward and wrapping his arms around you brings your lips to his causing a wave of passion and heat to fill your body. Your emotions get the better of you causing you to reach up and wrap your arms around his neck and pull him in closer to you. You had dreamed of this moment for years after you were sent from Asgard, but you never thought it would come true.

As he deepens the kiss you feel your legs start to give way as you let your emotions go. You feel his arms tighten around you before he pulls away and looks deep into your (E/C) eyes as he says, “I have missed you ________.” You smile brightly as you say, “I’ve missed you too.” He reaches up and gently caresses your cheek with the back of his hand as he says, “I cannot believe that all this time you were right here on Midgard.” Your heart clenches as you come back to reality. You gently push away from him and look down at the ground as you say, “Yeah, um how was life back in Asgard.” He tilts his head as he says, “Have I done something to upset you?” You sigh as you walk away from him and say, “No, it’s nothing I just,” you look back at him and see his gorgeous blue eyes searching yours for any reason that would explain why you would push him away.

“Just what?” He says as he moves closer to you. Your body tenses as you stare at him wide eyed and say, “Stop please!” Thor freezes in his steps just a few inches from you and says, “What’s wrong ________?” You swallow a gulp of air as you say, “I’ve imagined seeing you again since the moment I left Asgard, down to every last detail; but this can’t happen.” He stares at you with sadness filling his eyes as he says, “Why?” Your heart tightens as you say, “Thor I can never be with you, no matter how much I want to it just can’t happen.” His jaw clenches as he averts his eyes and says, “Can you just tell me one thing?” You look up into his dreamy face and say, “I guess I owe you at least that.” 

He takes a deep breath and looks into your (E/C) eyes as he says, “When we were kids you were always there when I needed you, always making me smile when I was having a hard time, and that day you left when we were heading to the portal made me realize how much I actually needed you in my life. What I want to know is did you mean it in your letter when you said you loved me?” Your heart tightens and you look up into his face fully intending to lie to him, to tell him anything that would make him move on from you; but as you stare into his bright blue eyes that were now filled with worry and sadness find yourself saying, “I did,” His face softens but before he could move toward you hold your hand up and say, “But I don’t feel that way anymore. I can’t feel that way about you.” He looks back down at the floor as you continue saying, “You are a prince of Asgard and I’m just a Vanir. I’m beneath you Thor, you must marry a Asgardian and become king; and I can’t be her.” 

After you finish speaking you add silently to yourself, ‘No matter how much I want it to be.’ You watch as Thor’s body tenses and you swallow a gulp of air as you know what was about to happen next. “I see then please excuse me.” You stare wide eyed at him as he turns and walks out of your room leaving you alone. That was not what you had expected; usually he would have started an argument letting his anger get the best of him. As the door closes behind him you sink to the floor and wrapping your arms around your body let the tears you had held back all these years fall from your eyes. Lying to Thor was the hardest thing you had ever done and you hated yourself for it. As you stare at the door you contemplate running to him and telling him that it was a lie and all you wanted was to be with him but your promise to Odin kept you from doing so.

 After a few hours you wipe your eyes and run a hand through your disheveled hair as you stand and walk over to the door. When you open it you feel the Helicarrier jolt sending you flying backwards to the floor where you land hard on your back temporarily knocking the wind out of your body. You look around as you try to refill your lungs only to see Mjolnir fly past you heading toward the other end of the ship toward the docking bay. Forcing yourself to stand you quickly make your way down the steel passageways until it hits you, someone is trying to free Loki. Turning you run the opposite direction and quickly for the cage containing Loki. When you arrive he is still standing alone in the cage waiting patiently to be released. 

“Tell them to stop!” You say as you walk up to the glass. “I’m afraid I cannot, like I said there are greater forces at play here then just me.” Your anger rises as your emotions get the better of you causing you to yell out, “How could you? How could you work for the being that took my father from me?!” Loki stares at you wide eyed as he says, “What?” Your ager raises higher turning your face red and your eyes a Golden yellow and you pound your hand against the glass of the cage as you say, “Do not lie to me Loki, I know the truth. Please just tell me why?” Loki walks over to the glass and reaching up presses his hand to the glass as if to hold your hand as his face softens and he says, “I didn’t know ________, I am sorry.” You look up into his greenish blue eyes and say, “You have to stop, please!” Loki takes a deep breath and then his eyes widen as he says, “Wait, don’t touch her!” You turn around confused only to be knocked out by who you guessed was one of the men attacking the helicarrier.

Loki’s POV

The last thing he had expected was for ________ to be on the Helicarrier with him. As one of the hired henchmen unlocks the cage he walks out of the cage and leaning down lifts _______ into his arms. Even after all these years she hadn’t changed all that much. Yes her face had aged and her body had grown but her eyes had remained the same they had been when they were children. Loki moves a strand of (H/C) from her face as he walks over to the controls and gently lays her down behind him. If everything was going as he had planned it Thor would be here in a few moments to make sure that he hadn’t escaped, until then Loki would stay by __________’s side. 

Loki gently caresses her cheek and as he does he slowly becomes unaware of his war waging around him. __________, had been his first love even though he hadn’t ever said anything or told anyone how he felt; his anger toward his family started on the day Odin sent her to Midgard. Loki sighs as he realizes that this will probably be the last time he will ever see _________, so even though his mind screams at him to stop he leans down and gently presses his lips to hers where he leaves a soft kiss. When he pulls away he conjures a pillow and gently lays it under her head and says, “I really am sorry that you have been dragged into this war. If things had been different I would have happily told you my feelings. Fare the well sweet Princess.” He then lays her back on the floor and then standing conjures another version of himself and waits patiently for Thor to arrive.
